here's my essay with a little more

College Essay

When the time comes for me to enter the work force I am certain of one thing, that I will work with animals. For the longest time that I can remember I have wanted to be a veterinarian, and while that is still true another career has recently earned my interest. I am looking at the possibility of becoming a zookeeper. Whichever profession I choose to enter I believe that Delaware Valley College can help me to accomplish my goals.
During my time at DVC I will have made the choice between becoming a veterinarian or a zookeeper. I choose the path of a veterinarian then I will have more schooling ahead of me. After that I will enter the work force and start off in an existent practice. After I’ve “learned the ropes” I will open a small animal practice, specifically for dogs and cats. My practice will be capable of handling a wide range of cases, from a simple checkup to complicated surgery. If, during college, I decide that being a veterinarian is not right for me than I will become a zookeeper. As a zookeeper I want to work with big cats and would someday like to be senior keeper of a group of animals. I am not definite in the choice of animals I would like to work with because while researching this career I have read many times not to specialize in the beginning as you really have no idea what you like best.
Getting my education at DVC will give me a great advantage to reaching my goals. This college is one of the few close to my home that offers an animal major other than pre-veterinary medicine. As a small animal science major I know that DVC can provide me with an education and experience like no other. Your program offers an abundance of hands on experience, something that I believe is essential. I also noticed how much DVC entrusts the students, by letting them do surgery in their freshman year. Overall I learned a lot about the small animal science program at the open house in November. The 960 hours a student is required to have worked with animals in some way is a brilliant way of exposing students to a field they are considering. I myself would like to earn my hours at the Philadelphia Zoo.
Though I am currently torn between two professions now, I know that DVC will provide me with the knowledge and experience to make my final decision. Whether as a veterinarian helping pets or as a zookeeper helping whole species, I am certain that I will be successful because I will be following the dream that has been with me since my earliest memories. DVC’s unique program will provide me with the basics. It has always been my dream to work with animals, and DVC can make that dream a reality.
